In 2023, if you’ve made a substantial amount of money, you’ve proven that you’re successful at what you do. The 33-year-old woman in business is not in agreement.
There is no single, defining characteristic of successful people or a blueprint for replicating their achievements. You, and only you, get to decide what constitutes a successful life. The level of success one experiences is unique to them and cannot be bought with money. Some people, for instance, consider themselves successful if they are able to provide for and spend quality time with their families, which is something that money can never buy. In today’s materialistic society, it’s easy to believe the myth that financial success is synonymous with material wealth. Unfortunately, most of us tend to evaluate our own value based on our bank balance, even though money and success are not necessarily synonymous. We may judge someone as more successful based on material possessions, such as an expensive vehicle, big house, and huge net worth.
We think Money is the primary, and often the sole, yardstick by which most people in today’s capitalist society evaluate success.
In politics, money talks. Acclaim is a commodity that can be purchased with cash. Time is a commodity that can be bought and sold for cash. You may not agree when I say, a person’s life can be bought for a price. Thus, monetary success has emerged as the universal first priority.
However, according to Australian Entrepreneur and Author Mariam Elhouli there is another metric by which one’s success in life should be judged.
Elhouli claims that attention is today’s currency in the business world. Whoever gets your attention, makes big bucks. That’s why social media platforms work.
“You can scale to new heights if you have attention, which is what will get you, customers,” she says.
So if you’re running a business and want to scale it, you need to play the game of attention. Get that and you are unstoppable.
You will have more money than you can even imagine.
